3 Reasons the “Transformation” Didn’t Last

What if it wasn’t transformation at all… but performance?

In this episode of the Redefining Wealth Podcast, Patrice Washington breaks down why some change looks real for a moment but never truly lasts. Whether it’s someone else’s promises or your own repeated patterns, this conversation reveals the difference between surface-level effort and real, lasting transformation.

Because not all change is rooted in alignment.

Some change is rooted in approval.
Some change is rooted in pressure.
Some change is rooted in performance.

But real transformation is rooted in conviction.

In This Episode, You’ll Learn:

  • Why approval-driven change rarely lasts
  • How performance can look like growth
  • Why mimicking transformation is not the same as embodying it
  • Why real change takes time to become identity

1. Change for Approval Will Always Be Fragile

Patrice explains that when change is driven by someone else’s approval, it usually won’t stick.

If the goal is to keep the peace, keep access, or keep someone happy, the effort may look real for a while. But once the pressure fades, the old patterns often return.

Lasting change has to come from within.
It has to sound like: This is who I want to become.

2. Mimicking Change Is Not the Same as Living It

Sometimes people know the language of growth without actually embodying it.

They read the books.
They repeat the right words.
They perform healing, faith, or maturity.

But without conviction, it is still borrowed behavior.

Patrice reminds us that real transformation is not about looking the part. It is about becoming someone different from the inside out.

3. Real Transformation Takes Time

Lasting change is rarely dramatic.

It is quiet.
It is repetitive.
It is built over time.

You do not become transformed just because you heard something powerful once. Real change takes integration. It takes choosing again and again until the new way becomes natural.

That is when transformation stops being something you announce… and becomes the way you live.

What Real Change Produces

Real transformation shows up in fruit.

Not just words.
Not just promises.
Not just temporary effort.

Fruit.

You can feel the difference because the change is no longer a performance. It becomes identity.
