I used to think that motherhood would be all about teaching my daughter everything I knew, but the truth is I’ve learned so much from her by simply watching her blossom into who she authentically is.

I recently heard of a Chinese Proverb that says, “Do not confine your children to your own learning, for they were born in another time.

”Of course, there’s a time for me to teach and guide, but there’s also a time for me to sit back and simply watch and learn.

Now, I believe in this season of motherhood that the goal is definitely not to get my daughter to think, feel or behave like me; the goal is for us to each truly pursue our own paths and allow ourselves to enjoy the journey as we each find our own flow.

I believe that we can be completely respectful of each other’s journeys and that there’s never a reason to feel like we have to compete, live in comparison or force anyone to think, feel or behave just like us.
